You may have wanted to start journaling and wondering how to start. In this blog post, we'll be introducing the lovely Rae (@sleepy.tofu) and her 3 tips on how to journal.
Introduction:
Hi, I'm Rae! I'm a university student living in Singapore. I started journaling in 2017, and haven't stopped since. I share my journal spreads on Instagram. @sleepytofu
Why I Journal:
I love all sorts of stationery and art, and journaling allows me to incorporate both into my daily life in a meaningful way! I record everything from my daily activities to overseas travel.
Ending a long day with quiet journaling time also helps me to make time for myself and destress 😌 Since posting my journey online, I’ve also managed to make many friends in the community from all across the world! It’s been a joy to meet so many people with the same interests as mine.
3 Tips to Start Journaling:
If you want to give journaling a try, here are some tips to get you started.
1.) You don't need expensive materials to start.
All you need is a notebook, a pen, maybe some paint or coloured markers, and a lot of creativity!
Use doodles, different fonts, and experiment with different layouts to make things interesting. I also like printing out pictures to include in my spreads!
2.) Use colour.
For me, colour is important to express my mood while I'm journaling.
Choose a simple colour palette before starting; the end result is a very cohesive spread!
3.) Collect memorabilia.
Save your receipts, train tickets or even clothing tags!
For me, I especially love collecting business cards of artists that I support.
It's always nice to look back on fond memories and have physical items from that moment in time.
Have fun, and happy journaling!
