"How to use Washi Tapes (2 of 3)"
by Ting from @positivethoughts.ca on Instagram
Hi again friends, this is Ting from @positivethoughts.ca on Instagram, back here to show you how to creatively use washi tape! This is part two of a three-part series where we will explore different ideas and have some fun with our washi tape collection! If you missed part one, remember to go back and read it! It even comes with a video demo!
Today, I would like to show you 5 different ways of using washi tapes in bullet journals. I never started using washi tapes until I started bullet journaling, so here’s some of my ideas for you!
1. Washi tape to decorate the cover page
Many times when we draw our monthly cover page, we tend to draw right in the middle instead of all the way out to the edge of the paper. The result of this type of cover page design is that you would have a lot of empty spaces around the outer edges. To break up that empty space and allow the eye to move around the page better, I add some washi tapes to match my theme of the month. See below for some examples of my monthly cover pages with washi tape.
2. Washi tape to create waterfall tabs
If you want to create different sections of your bullet journal for easy access, you can create waterfall tabs with your washi tape to help keep your planner organized. Each tab can divide your pages by month, by week, by days or by category (e.g. habit tracker, mood tracker, monthly calendar, etc.). Simply cut the pages where you want to create the division and add washi tape to either one side or both sides of the edge to distinguish the sections.
3. Washi tape for titles or highlighting the title
Sometimes people highlight titles with a marker/mildliner/highlighter and sometimes they highlight with washi tapes. Then you can write the title (e.g. the month, the day of the week, etc.) on the washi tape directly or on a piece of paper and then gluing it onto the washi tape. This process makes the title stand out more and there’s more decor from the washi tapes.
4. Washi tape to tape other items into the bullet journal
Who would have guessed to use washi tape just as an adhesive? Yes, you can use washi tape just like tape (except it’s a lot prettier)! You can use it to tape other items (like a photo, an envelope with a note inside, etc.) into your bullet journal. The best part of this is if you don’t like it later, it’s easily removable without ripping your journal.
5. Washi tape to fix mistakes
We all make mistakes but it’s okay because in a bullet journal, you can use washi tape to cover up your mistakes and no one will know! This has happened to me many times - whether it’s an unintentional smudge or a line that’s not straight enough or a word that was misspelled - and washi tapes are my go-to.
